Memorial Day Basketball!

Both my daughter and my niece had basketball games in Albuquerque this past Memorial Day weekend.  I was in sports shooter heaven!  I rented a Nikon D700 for the occasion and used a combination of my 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 VR1 glass to capture the action.  The D700 kicks my D300's butt on low light sensitivity.  We even got to see a WNBA exhibition between the LA Sparks and Phoenix Mavericks at The Pit...lot's of fun.  I'll post some of the WNBA shots in a later post.

I shot all the pics with manual exposure...why?
Some angles had white walls in the background and then some darker bleacher backgrounds.  This seemed to confuse the exposure metering and I would get inconsistent exposures during sequences...and yes I tried the different matrix, spot, and medium spot modes.  Since the court was relatively equally lit, by manually exposing, I avoided problems with auto metering.  I then ran the images through Nikon Capture NX2 using the Auto Adjust, and they came out great.  Shot jpg Fine.
