Snow Queen Filming Update and Other Stuff

Hi everyone.
Just a quick update on what's been going on.

We have been working hard on summer filming for the Snow Queen: Daughters of the Snow film.  Our summer filming has been capturing the back stories and off-season interests of our cast.

We have also been laying down voice over tracks of the cast for the new trailer we are creating for our final push in fundraising.  As I write this I am reminded of a very cool story of our voice over work.

I had Amy, Tiffany, Petra over to the studio to record parts of the new trailer's script.  While the ladies reviewed the script, it became quite obvious that something needed to be said by Amy.  I asked Amy what was on her mind.  One thing I like about collaboration, is that if the group feels comfortable, and ego levels are low, much better collaboration comes forth.  And this day was truly a day that this truism came to fruition...

Amy was gentle, yet blunt....
the script I had written...well...it reeked of being written by a man....

And you know what?  She was right....so it was then and there that I decided to not take it personally, but instead look at it as an opportunity for the film....within minutes, the ladies huddled around together and began to write a new script for the trailer...IT WAS AWESOME!  The fervor and passion the three of them put out there on the spot in a little recording studio was precious.  It was all I could do to just sit there and not break out a camera to record the beautiful thing happening before my eyes...but I couldn't risk the interruption and momentum happening there...

When they were done, the script was perfect.  It was genuine, open, and powerful.

We then spent the next half hour or so recording each of them.  I cannot wait for you all to see it.

As for the summer filming, I have been loving the new Defy Products G12 gimbal stabilizer with our Sony PXW-Z100.  FABULOUS!

The footage is silky smooth on the gimbal and the 4:2:2 10-bit 60fps 4k footage is to die for. Though, at 14lbs total weight, the arms and upper body get quite the work out.  I suggest anybody getting one of these, that you spend two weeks playing with it and getting your upper body in shape.  And it really is a win-win!  I get gorgeous footage and much needed body work!

In the meantime, here is a short vignette of behind the scenes using the G12 and our other summer filming activities...

Until next time:
